Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Display Information
The Marian web catalog supports the input and display of Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Japanese, and Korean scripts.
Activating Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Display and Input
On any Computer configured for Chinese, Japanese, or Korean display, make sure that font or encoding is set to UTF-8 (Unicode).
On Gallagher Law Library public terminals:
- Click the right mouse button and select "Encoding"
- On the menu that appears, select "Unicode (UTF-8)"
- (If UTF-8 does not appear, select "More"; Choose "Unicode (UTF-8)" from the next menu)
Important note: If Chinese, Japanese, and Korean display does not work properly on subsequent pages, it may be necessary to follow the above steps again. (Also make certain that "Auto-Select" is not checked.)
Telnet from Home: To view CJK scripts in the Gallagher Law Library Catalog in a Windows Telnet session (no web browser required), you must have appropriate CJK viewer software installed on your computer (same as above), and also the telnet program "AnzioWin" (http://www.anzio.com), a Unicode-enabled telnet application for Windows 95/98/NT/2000. This setup will work with Chinese, Japanese, or Korean.
Since Korean does not display well on the Marian web catalog, a telnet connection using AnzioWin is the best option. In Anzio, be sure to select a Korean font (Gulimche works well).
